Since Silvia's parents are out of country, I decided to offer her the best enjoyment I could. And fortunately I succeeded to provide her the best pleasure in her eight years long life. I can bet, truly it was a memorable day for her. What did I do? Simply I followed the steps...
Planning: A full proof plan is the most important fact for social gatherings. You have to start making plans two or one week before of the day to celebrate such events, but I had to do it the day before her birthday. I made a 'To Do' list considering over all the events deeply and made my budget. I bought all the necessary supplies like candles, balloons, stationary items, gift items and many more.
Guests: My budget did not allow me to hire a special venue for the party, thus I decorated the backyard of my home. I invited a limited number of people at the party. Only her school mates and some of our intimate neighbours were on the invitation list. And I personally delivered the invitation at their house. If you want to hold a larger event, you have to hire a large venue. Do not use telephone to invite guests. Possibly pay a visit at their residence.
Theme: Birthday theme is the basic element of a birthday party. Selecting a theme with the child's preference is very important. Since Silvia is fond of teddy bears, she helped me lot to organise the yard with the teddy bear theme. She painted cartoons of different teddy bears of different sizes and colours all the daylong. Later she and I hung the cartoons well in everywhere of our backyard.
Foods: Food is the essential element of any social parties. You can order it to a caterer, or you can make it at home. But making foods at home consumes a lot of time. So you have to decide whether you will buy the foodstuffs from a fast food shop or make it at home. If you lack time, I will suggest you to move for the first option. But be careful about the delivery on time. Since we had enough time, my mother suggested she should make the major foods. So she baked the cake on the night before the party. She also prepared some cookies and cheese burgers. I ordered some pizzas, small bags of chips, sandwiches and soft drinks like lemonade, juices etc. to a nearby fast food shop.
Special Event: There was a very special event for the party attendees. Earlier, I contacted a magician to perform on the day. And he appeared on time. The exciting magic show enchanted the children and their parents. The tricks performed by the magician were really pleasant. Even I also was surprised attending the show. Unlike me, you can arrange some special events to entertain the invited guests.
Games: To prevent the birthday party being flop, I arranged some games for the children attended at the party. Among the games they liked the treasure hunting game most. A bag of chocolate (treasure!) was hidden at a corner of the yard, and they discovered it following some clues. This is a great idea to arrange some games for the partygoers. It helps the children to enjoy the time.
Duration: Though the party was held on the weekend, it was not prolonged. The party lasted for one and a half hour. At times extended parties become boring despite various attractive and special events. The invited people specially the parents may not feel comfort, or they might have any other emergencies. Therefore, I personally think the parties should be kept a maximum of 120 minutes and 90 minutes at least.
Surprise for the Child: Birthday is one of the events that children cherish for remaining of their life. So you have to present something special to your child. You can present objects preferable to the child, but keep the fact hidden. Unveil the gift as a surprise right at the last moment of party. I offered a birthday teddy bear to Silvia, and she was extremely happy getting the bear.
